History
Belly dancing is known as an Oriental/Arabic dance. It was originated as the perfect preparation for child birth. The hip, abdominal and snake movements imitates child birth. Belly dancing is a celebration of motherhood, sex and child bearing. Later, men developed an interest in belly dancing. The number of belly dancing men remains very low, and performances usually take place in all male clubs.
All arabic countries and Greece have their own cosutmes and a specific style of dance. Many props are used in belly dancing. Veils, finger cymbals, canes, swords, candles and many other household items. The props gives each dance a different meaning and a new challenge. Belly dancing is never boring; nor will it get boring.
